If you buy custom metal parts in 2026, you will almost certainly compare two very different routes: an on-demand manufacturing platform such as Xometry, and a factory-direct manufacturer such as Beijing JCEN. Both can deliver the same bracket, enclosure or chassis. They are not the same business, and the trade-offs are real in both directions.
This comparison is written for procurement engineers, product developers and manufacturing managers who have to make that call. Every figure about Xometry below is taken from the public Xometry website. Every figure about Beijing JCEN comes from our own published capability pages. Where we do not know a number, we say so instead of estimating it.

Platform Overview
Xometry is a US-headquartered on-demand manufacturing marketplace, founded in 2013 and publicly listed since June 2021. It does not build parts on a single owned shop floor for these orders. Instead it connects buyers to a distributed network of manufacturing partners: Xometry states 5,000 suppliers in its Partner Network, 90,000 active buyers and 165M+ parts shipped. Its core offer is the Xometry Instant Quoting Engine, which returns an automated price in seconds. Publicly listed certifications include ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485:2016, AS9100D, IATF 16949:2016, ITAR and CMMC Level 2. Services span CNC machining, 3D printing, sheet and tube fabrication, injection molding and high-volume metal production.
Beijing JCEN is a factory-direct sheet metal and metal parts manufacturer. We are headquartered in Beijing with our plant in Nanpi County, Hebei, and we have been in production since 1998. The plant covers 15,000 m2, runs 6 production lines with 85 people, and keeps laser cutting, press-brake bending, stamping, deep drawing, welding, CNC machining and surface finishing in-house rather than subcontracted. We hold ISO 9001:2015 (registration 34025Q30296R0S), IATF 16949 and ISO 14001. We have published our working tolerances, lead times and material range rather than keeping them behind a quote form.

Where Beijing JCEN Has a Clear Advantage
- Factory-direct pricing, with no marketplace layer. When you order from a platform, the platform price has to carry partner margin and platform margin. Ordering from the plant removes both. On a repeat stainless enclosure programme, that difference is usually the single largest line in the comparison.
- An engineer reviews your drawing before tooling is cut. For stamping and progressive dies, automated checks do not catch strip layout, die-line and material-utilisation problems. Those are exactly the decisions that decide whether a tool costs what it should. Our DFM review is returned with the quote, inside 24 hours.
- No MOQ, and an in-house tool room. You can validate a design at 1 piece or 100 pieces without committing to a volume tier, and the tool that follows is built by the same plant that will run it.
- 28 years of depth in stamping, deep drawing and CNC. Titanium Grade 2 and Grade 5 and Inconel 625 are machined in-house rather than routed to a third party. If your part is a formed or drawn metal component rather than a general machined block, this is the work we do all day.
Where Xometry Has a Clear Advantage
We are not going to pretend these do not exist. In three situations Xometry is the better answer, and we would rather tell you so than waste your evaluation time.
- Instant pricing. If you need a ballpark figure in the next five minutes to sanity-check a design, an automated quote engine wins outright. We quote in 24 hours because a person reads the drawing. That is a deliberate trade, not a limitation we are hiding.
- Breadth of processes under one account. Xometry covers CNC machining, several 3D printing processes, injection molding, sheet and tube fabrication and high-volume metal production through one dashboard. We are a sheet metal, stamping, deep drawing and CNC plant. We are not a 3D printing house and we do not offer injection molding. If your programme mixes those, a platform is simpler to administer.
- US-based supply options and defence-grade compliance scope. Xometry lists ITAR and CMMC Level 2 alongside AS9100D and ISO 13485. If your programme requires domestic US sourcing, or a specific compliance regime we do not hold, that platform is the correct route.
Which One Is Right for You?
Choose an on-demand platform such as Xometry if
- You need an indicative price immediately and the design is still moving.
- Your programme needs several unrelated processes, including 3D printing or injection molding, in one order.
- You must source domestically in the US, or you need ITAR, AS9100 or ISO 13485 scope.
- You want maximum supplier redundancy behind a single contract.
Choose a factory-direct manufacturer such as Beijing JCEN if
- Your part is sheet metal, stamped, deep drawn or machined, and it will be ordered more than once.
- You want the plant price rather than a platform price, and you want tooling and production under one roof.
- You want a human DFM review before you commit to tooling spend.
- You want no minimum order quantity, a 7-day sample and a named engineer on the account.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Beijing JCEN a competitor of Xometry, or a supplier that appears on it?
We are neither a reseller nor a listed partner in that network. We are a factory-direct manufacturer. The practical difference is that when you order from us, the price and the production both belong to the same plant, and the engineer who reviews your drawing is the engineer responsible for the parts.
Can Beijing JCEN quote as fast as an instant quoting engine?
No. We quote within 24 hours. That window exists because a manufacturing engineer reviews the drawing, the tolerances and the material before a number is issued, and because the DFM feedback is sent with the quote rather than after the order. If you need a number in seconds, an automated platform is the right tool for that stage.
Do the two hold the same certifications?
They overlap and they differ. Both hold ISO 9001 and IATF 16949. Xometry additionally lists AS9100D, ISO 13485:2016, ITAR and CMMC Level 2, which cover aerospace, medical and US defence programmes. We hold ISO 9001:2015 with registration 34025Q30296R0S, IATF 16949 and ISO 14001. We do not hold AS9100, NADCAP or ISO 13485, and we do not claim them. If your part needs one of those regimes, tell us early and we will say plainly whether we are the wrong supplier.
Which route is cheaper for a 5,000-piece stamped bracket?
We do not publish a rate card and we will not quote a competitor price, so any single number here would be guesswork. The comparison that decides it is landed cost: tooling, piece price, freight, duty and the cost of a change after tooling is cut. The reliable method is to send the same drawing, with the same tolerance callouts and the same annual volume, to both routes and compare total landed cost rather than piece price.
